Discover the city from the sky on board the Ferris wheel

The Ferris wheel is next to the Christmas market in Valence and allows you to discover the illuminated city.

From November 19 to January 3, take a seat in one of the 24 gondolas and admire Valence from 35 meters high!

It is ideal for the youngest and the perfect activity during a romantic stay. Open every day from 11 am to 5 pm. We advise you to wait until nightfall to enjoy the city’s lights.

Let yourself be carried away by the magic of Christmas through beautiful short films

The LUX arts and culture center annually offers a season of choreographic and musical performances, exhibitions, and films.

LUX has prepared a selection of short films this Christmas season that will lead you to beautiful snowy adventures for the greatest pleasure of the eyes. You can find the complete program directly on the LUX website.

Stroll through the city and let yourself be lulled by the Christmas lights

From November 25 to January 8, the magic of Christmas will take place in the streets of downtown Valence from 5:30 pm. It’s the perfect occasion to enjoy a little night stroll for two or with your family. We advise you to visit the Valence market.

Discover Tilt’s illuminations on the square in front of the train station, the Place Aristide Briand, and the Champ de Mars.

Don’t forget to visit the 18-meter tree and admire the installations on the Place de la Liberté, Porte-Neuve, Leclerc, and Montalivet by WinDisplay.

To learn more about the city, tours are then offered by the Heritage, Art, and History Department. Book your time in advance and enjoy a hot chocolate at the end of your visit to fully appreciate your Christmas vacation in Valence.

Don’t miss the fireworks

On Saturday, December 10, from 6:30 pm, attend the Christmas parade of the Amicale laïque Thibert-Châteauvert, followed by the fireworks on the Champ de Mars!

More than 400 dancers from Valence, professionals, and amateurs will stroll through the city center from the Boulevard d’Alsace to the Peynet Bandstand.

The rest of the evening will illuminate the sky of Valence and will enchant the whole family.

The Christmas village activities

From December 3 to 24, from Sunday to Thursday, come and stroll through the Christmas village of Valence. On the boulevards of the city center, discover the numerous Christmas chalets where you can taste and share their know-how and specialties.

Numerous free activities will punctuate this magical period, including:

• From November 18 to December 19: Santa’s letter box to drop off your letter;
• From December 3 to 24: the Enchanted Forest of the Christmas Village, to choose your Christmas tree;
• Sunday, December 11, at 2, 3, and 4 pm: come and enjoy the Bubble Ball! Two female singers cultivate the art of bubbles and songs on the barrel organ to the delight of passers-by, young and old;
• From December 17 to 23: discover the city on a horse-drawn carriage ride for only €2 per person;
• December 23, from 4 to 6 pm: attend the Christmas concert and enjoy the festive musical atmosphere: trumpets, saxophones, trombones, and percussion will make you sing and dance to the classic Christmas music!

Take a tour of the children’s village

This area dedicated to children in the Christmas village offers many activities to discover with your family. For example, you can make your own Christmas decorations, let the Valence Private School of Esthetics and Hairdressing students dress you up, personalize your Christmas cards or create your snowman out of balloons.

Admire the F(lux) exhibition

From November 25 to December 31, discover at the Bourse du Travail the visual artist Olivier Ratsi. Like a scriptwriter, the artist sets a poetic frame on our time, with an immersive installation as a series of sequence shots.

This large-scale light game uses light beams and their colors as a language in its own right. In this exhibition, Olivier Ratsi plunges the Bourse du Travail into the darkness to embark on an experimental and sensory journey.

Welcome the New Year with music

It’s an unmissable event in Valence after the holidays: the New Year’s Orchestra and its directed musicians will take you on a concert worthy of the Musikverein in Vienna.
